Inquiry 2B Zero Draft

REM’s “It’s the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)” is a masterpiece of lyrical satire and vocal strategy. The song, describing a plethora of nouns in tain of consciousness style prose, is constantly frames by the phrase “its the end of the world as we know it”. What does this apocalypse take form through what is being said, why and How? I will dissect this song, exploring what events led up to this end, and discuss what REM may mean. I also plan to discuss the songs place in society, what it means to people, and f the world as we know it is truly coming to an end.
